A well-water pressure system contains parts that must work together: the pump and piping move water, check valves control reverse flow, the pressure tank stores water under pressure, the tank tee creates service connections, and gauges and controls help monitor operation. Order each component from the system specifications, not from appearance alone.
Check valves and foot valves
First identify the valve type and intended location. Compare connection size and type, body and internal materials, flow direction, installation orientation and the manufacturer’s pressure and temperature limits. A foot valve typically combines a check mechanism with an inlet screen, while other check-valve designs serve different locations and service needs.
Pressure gauges
Select a gauge whose pressure range makes normal system operation easy to read without exceeding the gauge rating. Match dial size, connection size, connection position and any material or environmental requirements. Verify the Boshart part number when replacing an existing gauge.
Tank tees
A tank tee connects the pressure tank to the water line and commonly provides ports for system components. Match the tank connection, tee length, run and branch sizes, material and port configuration. A tee that is too short or has the wrong port arrangement can create installation conflicts even when the main thread size looks correct.
Packages versus individual parts
A tank-tee package may include several components, but the contents differ by exact SKU. Read the included-components list and do not assume a pressure switch, gauge, relief valve, drain or other accessory is included. Compare the package with the system design and purchase any missing items separately.
Before ordering
- Record the pressure-tank make, model and connection.
- Measure the required tank-tee length and note the port layout.
- Identify pipe sizes, thread types and materials.
- Confirm the pressure-switch operating range and gauge range.
- Check valve type, flow direction and intended installation point.
- Verify pressure, temperature and potable-water requirements.
- Match manufacturer part numbers and listing quantities.
Installation and safety
Well systems can contain stored pressure and electrical equipment. Isolate power, shut off the water source and fully depressurize the system before service. Relief devices, pressure controls and electrical work must follow manufacturer instructions and applicable codes. When the cause of a pressure problem is uncertain, use a qualified well or plumbing professional.
